3. Listen to them if they tell you that they want the hem of their uniform to come up!(although I am not into letting her have slut skirts!)
Yes she survived her first day, apparently scored cred points with the year 10 peer support by knowing exactly who the dresden dolls are and other such bands. (the peer support leader had purple hair, so she scored cred points with missy)
The downside of the SSC Balmain is that some of the absolutely scum of the earth boys she had to go to school with at Erskineville are going there. The upside of this is that apparently she wont have to be in the same classes as them as none of them are in enrichment classes and none of them are in her home class.
On other things , went to Opera in the Domain on Saturday night , it was a lovely night , we had very yummy mango daiquiris and sparkling Burgandy. It was lovely to catch up with various people.

Almost another year gone.. And certainly has been a year of ups and downs , of extremes and of trials.
My best christmas eve present... FINALLY getting a letter from Sydney Secondary College telling us that Alex has been accepted into their enrichment courses for core academic and for music and drama. This means that she is not in the mainstream classes for 85% of her classes. Alex made the decision herself that she didn't want to go to Newtown Performing Arts about a month ago. This was based on the amount of yelling she hears coming out of there (her school was right next to it) and a couple of other reasons. I am pleased with this because SHE made that decision. She went to a singles day for SSC last month and made friends with a girl who oddly enough has the exact same birthday as Alex.
She too was on the waiting list for Newtown and was applying for the enrichment courses. So now I really hope this girl got in as well.
My best christmas present ..That is a hard one.. I can narrow it down to 3 presents. This is in no particular order. An outside heater like what you see in cafes, a black lace parasol with matching fan and gloves.. (now I want to do high tea!) and a pair of pearl earrings.
For those of you who haven't guessed .. I love christmas. I am not one of those people for the most part who rush around trying to find just something... When I see something during the year that I think someone will like I will normally grab it then , put it away then bring it out at christmas time.
Best reaction to a present given .. Hmmmm also hard .. would have to narrow that down to three people also ...
Louise - (my girl who works campbelltown for me) - a plane ticket to melbourne for three days away with me - much jumping up and down and MUCH excitement. (So for melbourne friends , I will be down there Jan 15 to Jan 18 and would love to catch up with you!)
Eric -(my business partner) a HUGE framed picture of Harvey Keitel from Pulp Fiction. When asked where the hell he could put it , I sweetly responded " Why in the 2nd Pretty and Twisted

Leading up to Christmas at the shop was a bit of a mad house! The good news however is that there were alot of pretty black bags with a sticker saying "Pretty and Twisted" under peoples trees. For most of the week leading up to Christmas there were the three of us working. (that is myself , Louise and Tarren).
On Wednesday night we all went to the Nightmare before Christmas on Enmore Road, had dinner up at the Duke and wandered around a bit. It was nice catching up with some people.
Christmas eve was spent with Eric and family which was great. I spent some of the evening cutting paper with Heather who is three and Christmas eve was her first day of using scissors!
She totally loved her Jack and Sally blanket and her Sally doll.
Unfortunately Monster from the Nightmare before Christmas is no longer her favourite character .. Sally is .. She also really loved my parasol.. So I have decided that she needs to have one too ..
I now own my own copy of Alice in Wonderland ... in a pop up book ! It is very cool !!
Christmas day was spent doing the family thing , too much eating was done of course and Christmas night we had a couple of friends over.
Boxing day we watched some dvd's and then headed over to Miss Porcelain and Suit Dudes house
where we spent a few lovely hours talking to people and meeting new people.
So now we are trying to decide what to do for New Years!
Right! well that is me done .. Enjoy what is left of the holidays! |

I've just realised that I haven't updated in ages.. so here it is ..
the good
- All going well down in Pretty and Twisted Land. The spring stock is due to hit soon. Will be getting in a new label called Beserk from a lovely girl in Queensland. More of the mens gasoline shirts, ladies knee length a-line skirts and t-shirts. My favourite screenprint on these is of a silouhette of a girl impaled in a cemetary. I nominated Louise (the girl who works for me) for being the most excellent employee in the local area awards. I found out last friday that she has made it through to the finalists. So we get to go out to a dinner function this friday night to see how she goes :) I also took Louise to the local radio stations "we are 3" birthday do . That was all fun , Lou got slightly tipsy, we made some new contacts and it was a good night.
- We went down to melbourne for the opening of frou-frou's shop. This was a whirlwind visit to melbourne (sigh ... one day I will stay longer than 26 hours). We had a great time.. stayed at the windsor , caught up with other friends whilst we were there. I ordered some more clothing and jewellry from Anton's for the shop and.. we went shopping.
-I went with nikkicat13 to see South Pacific. I really enjoyed this as there was more acting and less singing. That was lovely for a change. Alex and I also went with nikkicat13 to watch a taping of strictly dancing. Again .. a fun night.
- Caught up with the lovely emmasee100 and frankdog for dinner one evening.
- Had dinner with monie_ree and her other half as well. I got to play with the lil one :)
- Fergus and I went on a date after gym one friday night. Yes I have now joined the gym , so hopefully it will pay off. We went to Manly by ferry , had dinner in a little japanese place and had a bit of a wander around. It was a more than delightful evening.
- Been seeing the twins at least once a week. This is one of the perks of being the boss. :)
The rest of it
- Fergus has been working lots .. we think he has a second home up at Newcastle at the moment.
- No news on the school front yet. The results for the selective schools should be through very soon though , so places will be freed up at Newtown then.
- Kind of looking at houses at the moment to see what is out there.
- My brother turned up on my doorstep the other morning .. 7am .. he had been out all night and hadn't gone home yet .. and he thought it would be lovely to have a morning cup of coffee with his sister..
I think that is everything.. but prolly not :) |

Ok ..
Alex has been notified that she is on the waiting list for Newtown. This is one step closer :) , although she has her nose out of joint as campbelltown accepted her straight up. So now the waiting begins.. we have to wait for the selective high school test results .. (september) which will then open up some spots , the conservatorium to do their thing .. which opens up more sports ... Let me just say now .. DONT have children!!!!!
I am now the proud owner of an Antons tails jackets... will be wearing it hopefully on Friday night to Frou-Frou's do on Friday evening.
The ball skirts have FINALLY come in so now we can sell them!! yay!!! |

The Good :
Alex and I went to see Saturday Night Fever last tuesday .. We both thought it rocked! We had lovely front row seats and the cast had been told to be really excellent that night because we were there! I was told by my friend that is doing wardrobe for the leading man that Alex had been noticed *g*
We also went to the Blue Moon Festival and Alex wore a corset for the first time , I know this is so the wrong thing to say .. but she looked so cute gothed up! It was lovely to spend time with friends and catch up.
We are going to Melbourne this weekend to see FrouFrou's new shop yay! And also to go shopping at Antons *sigh of satisfaction* I am looking forward to being not in my house for a night and being able to just have fun :)
We had the pleasure of having Mirielle21 staying over last friday night, it was lovely to catch up!(even if I did have to work saturday)
Fergus passed the three exams that he has been studying his ass off for ! So yay for that ! We went out to dinner last friday night to celebrate.
I have a very beautiful black and purple pvc corset with sleeves in the shop at the moment which is just divine .. I keep looking at it .. and thinking .. it wants to be mine .... I have resisted temptation so far.
Miss Chiff is beautiful as always and becoming more affectionate as time passes!
About to invest in an Antons tails jacket *drool*
The Bad:
I don't have my big ball skirts in yet! Although I have been told they will be arriving either today or tomorrow !
Still waiting to hear from Newtown Performing Arts ... two weeks to go ...
I now have a stain on my beautiful rug which can't be removed .. *sighs* I am thinking of moving it into the dining room .. then I can't see it |

Sometimes the time flies so fast that you just don't realise it. I look back at the last two weeks where I had no child .. and realistically what did I do ? .. Not much at all .. I feel like it was such a waste of time... I didn't get to the duke for the second monday .. I didn't get to drink cocktails with Miss Emma , I didn't get to the next strictly dancing night .. hmmmm ....
However I did get to catch up with a couple of people.. The big thing occupying me .. is formals... and trying to find a different kind of skirt for the girls.. It is very frustrating.. If anyone can recommend a long skirt that goes with a corset (please be aware I need pictures!) so I can get the dressmaker to make it I would be grateful! .. So far we have , the full ballskirt in various colours with layers of tulle underneath. Next we have a long skirt with layers of tulle on the outside. Then we have a long black lace skirt with a sort of kirtle thing over the top. I think I need another type of skirt however.
Apart from that all is well. We are almost at the point where the tiles will be going down in the back yard . This means that it is almost time for the spa to be delivered! Yay! I feel like this project has been going on forever!

As good as that is .. I hate when I drop her off and I have that 10 minutes of anxiousness .. will she fit in ? .. Yes it is that time again ... Alex has gone on camp for a week. The good thing is by the time the bus left she was sitting next to another girl and chatting away happily .. so I hope this means that all will be good for her. :)
In other news , the shop is going well , June sales have moved on so sales have picked up again .. I have learnt that during the January sales and the end of financial year sale people prefer to spend their hard earned dollars elsewhere!!! I have new corsets coming in either today or tomorrow so once more I will have an abundance of corsets :)
Miss Chiff is settling in nicely , she has taken to sleeping on top of me now , which is very cute and she lets Fergus and Alex pat her sometimes .. but she is very much my cat :)
I finally got my Cookie from Chad , thanks Chad! and it was lovely talking to you :) . Cookie is a Spencers Living dead doll exclusive from the U.S. I have been waiting for her for over half a year now :) However I have decided that I need Walpurgis .. she is the German exclusive .. *sigh* and that means Ebay for me ..
The back pavers have now been laid and the tessalated tiles go down this weekend I believe , so hopefully all will go according to plan and we will have our spa in by the end of the month ! It feels like forever since we bought the damm thing !
Fergus and I may get along to the Duke tonight if all goes well :) |
